Bill Muston is Manager of R&D at Oncor Electric Delivery Company LLC, a regulated electric utility in Texas. He is a staff member of Oncor’s corporate strategy group.
He focuses on emerging technologies and how they intersect with Oncor’s role to deliver electricity. The scope includes technologies to improve electric delivery services, and also includes adaptations Oncor may need as to make to accommodate customers’ own changes in technology and uses, and to accommodate distributed energy resources.
Energy storage and microgrids have been a key focus since 2014.
Technical maturity and risks for using emerging technologies are prime considerations, as well as related business-financial model and regulatory considerations.
Bill graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and an M.S. in Engineering.
